Following on from my Friday Finds series, I thought I’d share with you some hot party themes for kids straight from the mouths of Aussie mums in some of my networking groups.
Trending Now: Kids Party Themes
As fabulous as Pinterest and Instagram can be for inspiration, sometimes they can project unrealistic expectations to style the perfect party. And, while there are loads of popular party themes around licensed films, characters, and other assorted products, today I want to show you some amazing non-licensed party themes.
I put the call out to members of two of my networking groups for what they consider to be popular non-licensed party themes, and let me say one thing: They did not disappoint! These ladies came at me hard and fast with so many amazing themes that I’ve had to break them into several posts.

1. Ice Cream Party
Brisbane mum Tamsyn, of Max & Me, threw an ice cream party for Max and Milla. I’m not sure about you, but just looking at that stunning backdrop and the cake are making me want ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
2. Dinosaurs Party
Brisbane mum Keneena put together one seriously cool dinosaur party involving baking soda eggs excavated from the ground and then dissolved to find dinosaur, a lot of roaring, and painting and baking some dino ‘fossils’. That is one roarsome party!
3. Rainbow Party
Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue…..sing it with me, you know you want to!
Mackay mum Amber organised a rainbow party for her daughter Sophia, co-ordinating everything from clothing through to food! I just love her tulle crinoline skirt, so soft and fluffy!
4. Construction Party
Melbourne mum Jodie-Lee did a fabulous job on son Aston’s construction themed party. I love that the kids all have hard hats with their name on it, and how much fun would it be to decorate your own truck-shaped cookie?!
5. Mexican Party
¡Feliz cumpleaños a ti!
Sydney mum Chloe’s gorgeous Mexican fiesta for her daughter Rosie’s first birthday is filled with beautiful colour, the most gorgeous sugar skull cake complete with a sparkly name topper from Dear Light Creative, and matching mother-daughter floral crowns. Even guests got in on the fiesta with sombreros and ponchos!
6. Aeroplane Party
Adelaide mum Kate’s son, Hudson, was captain of his own airline for a day when he celebrated his first birthday. With a pilot for a grandfather, Hudson’s grandmother transformed a bib into an airline captain’s shirt using Hudson’s grandfather’s badges. Fly Hudson Air.
Thank you to all the mums from Party Mums and Mums with Hustle who created these fabulous parties, and for letting me share their images with you.
