With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to think how to best celebrate your mum. Unfortunately this year I won’t get to see my mum as I’ll be working, so I’ll have to give her her gift (along with her birthday gift from mid April!) the next time we see each other. I’ll still certainly give her a call on the day, but it’s likely she’ll be working too! It’s also my mum’s first year as a granny now that Ruby (my brother’s little girl) is here, and by the time Mother’s Day rolls around, Ruby will be almost 3 months old. Time goes so quickly. Of course, along with first time grandmothers, and even great grandmothers, comes first time mums like my sister in law. I’ll be in those shoes next year, and Spot will almost be one year old! Following on from my Friday Finds series, I thought I’d share with you some hot party themes for kids straight from the mouths of Aussie mums in some of my networking groups.
Trending Now: Kids Party Themes
As fabulous as Pinterest and Instagram can be for inspiration, sometimes they can project unrealistic expectations to style the perfect party. And, while there are loads of popular party themes around licensed films, characters, and other assorted products, today I want to show you some amazing non-licensed party themes.
I put the call out to members of two of my networking groups for what they consider to be popular non-licensed party themes, and let me say one thing: They did not disappoint! These ladies came at me hard and fast with so many amazing themes that I’ve had to break them into several posts.

Hands up if you love celebrations? Hands up if you love shopping? Hands up if you love shopping for celebrations? All of you? Wonderful!

Any Friday Finds sponsorships, or others for that matter, will be fully disclosed in each post. [Read more…]

It might sound scary, but planning your dream wedding can be done in 12 months or less. I know because I’ve done it. All you need is a supportive fiancé, discipline, and planners. And maybe a Pinterest board or two…(Shhhhh, it’s a secret one!, I hear you say). Let me help you get through this busy period of wedding planning – sometimes a full time job in itself – with this three part series.
Part One of this series explores the big picture stuff like the time of year you want to marry, your budget (ugh yes, the budget, it’s rather important!), any themes or general vibes you want for your day as this can influence venue choices, your guest list (again can influence your venue choices), your venues, and finally, booking your celebrant, photographer, and videographer.
Part two of this series looks at some of the finer details such as choosing a bridal party, shopping for outfits, music, floral arrangements, food and beverages – including the cake, and transport.
The final installment of the series will discuss invitations and stationery, the wedding cake, décor if it’s not included in your venue packages, gifts for the bridal party and anyone else who you’d like to give a gift to, vows, and speeches. [Read more…]
